Dr.Srujana , I.A.S., Commissioner GVMC has inaugurated the newly developed second floor spread over 8000 Sft area of the Public Library.
Commanding the effort of the management of the Visakhapatnam Public Library, GVMC Commissioner Dr. Srijana has exhorted the younger generation to make full use of the facilities to fulfil their career aspirations. “The Future of any City or Society depends on the values upheld by the people". Knowledge is a source of strengthen to people of all age groups and books are the best companions of the young and old alike. Mrs. Srijana felt that digital education holds the key to future progress of the Country.
Speaking about the transformation of the public library, Prof. Prasanna Kumar, founding member Visakhapatnam Public Library , said, “The goal of the library is to bring children back to books and to raise a library with difference., enabling people of all ages to read in soothing ambience.
Sri D.S.Varma welcomed the gathering. Speaking on the occasion, D.S. Varma, secretary of the library sad “We plan to make the children’s section with a forest theme by putting up pictures of forests and animals on the walls. The idea is to mark this dedicated place for children where they can come and pick up books to read or participate in various activities like story-telling or drawing,”
Among the new features, the library has entry through door access systems,
e-learning facilities for online mock examinations, and providing a plethora of competitive examination books as well as access to The Hindu newspaper for career aspirants.
